Georgina Escobar is a fronteriza writer, director, and genre-defying storyteller whose work reimagines Latinx futurities through sci-femme mythologies, queer aesthetics, and borderland contradictions. Known for crafting impossible stories about legacy, time, and the female-coded body, her plays span speculative musicals, theatre, and narrative hybrids. Escobar is a recipient of prestigious honors, including the Gotham & Variety Audio Honors Award, the Kennedy Center's National Darrell Ayers Playwriting Award, and recognition on The Kilroys List. Her work has been developed internationally in Canada, México, U.K., Italy, Denmark and Sweden, and nationally at Lincoln Center, Clubbed Thumb, INTAR, and New York Children’s Theatre. She's published by McSweeney’s, Routledge, and Smith & Kraus. An alum of the Clubbed Thumb Early-Career Writers Group, she has held fellowships with MacDowell, Djerassi, La MaMa Umbria, and the Fornés Institute.
