Director Paul Thomas Anderson's work has ranged from uncomfortable dramedies (Punch-Drunk Love, Boogie Nights) and complex character studies (There Will Be Blood, The Master) to coming-of-age tales (Licorice Pizza) and movies that defy categorization (Magnolia). Now the veteran director puts his spin on the near-future action thriller about a group of ex-revolutionaries reuniting to rescue one of their own's daughter after an old enemy returns.
The film features an all-star cast, including Leonardo DiCaprio, Sean Penn, Benicio del Toro and Regina Hall. The creative team behind the camera includes several frequent collaborators, among them directors of photography Michael Bauman and Anderson, with music composed by Jonny Greenwood (There Will Be Blood).
